Survey

Surveys were prepared in order to get a better understanding of the settings and context of Thomas Park/Avondale (TPA). The surveys were comprised of ten questions, and were distributed throughout TPA. 44 completed surveys were collected. The charts and graphs below represent the results of surveys. Some charts and graphs include more than 44 responses because more than one answer was available for the questions.

Question 1: How long have you lived in Thomas Park/Avondale?

The graph above represents how long the individuals who took the survey have lived within TPA. The majority of the residents have lived in TPA for over 10 years, and the average period of residency is around 30 year.

Question 2: Do you rent or own the place you live?

The pie chart represents the distribution of renters and owners among the survey respondents. 81% percent of the respondents own their place of residence while 19% rent them.

 

 

Question 3: How many neighbors do you know?

The bar graph above represents the relationship between the residents of TPA. The majority of the neighborhood is aware or connected to at least some of their neighbors. This reveals that the relationships within TPA are relatively strong.

Question 4: How safe do you feel?

The bar graph above represents the perceived safety of the respondents. The majority of the respondents feel moderately safe within TPA.

 

 

Question 5: Which of the following best describes your current occupation?

The bar chart above represents the occupation of the respondent. The vast majority of the respondents are retired. There were multiple options for this question; because of this there were more than 44 answers to the question.

 

 

Question 6: What would you like to see improved or added in Thomas Park/Avondale?

The bar graph above represents the improvements that the respondents would like to see in their community. The majority of respondents want to see improvements in street, sidewalk, and housing conditions, as well as improvements in the condition of vacant homes and lots through out TPA.

Above is a pie chart representing whether the residents who responded to the survey enjoy living in TPA. The majority of the respondents said that they like living in the neighborhood

 

Question 8: Do you feel like your daily needs are met within Thomas Park/Avondale?

The pie chart above, represents whether or not the respondents felt as though their needs were met within TPA. The majority of the respondents felt as though their daily needs were being met in Thomas Park/Avondale.

Question 9: How do you usually travel around Muncie?

survey9The bar graph above represents the primary method of travel for the respondents’. The vast majority of the respondents travel by car, motorcycle or moped throughout Muncie.

Question 10: Do you feel like Thomas Park/Avondale is heading in the right direction?

The pie chart above represents whether or not the respondents feel that Thomas Park/Avondale is heading in the right direction. The distribution was close with 41% of respondents disapproving of the direction of the neighborhood and 34% approving.
