The students looked at the existing conditions in the neighborhood throughout the course of the project. They mapped the physical conditions such as streets and sidewalks by hand and by using the ArcCollector application on their smart phones. They also made note of non-physical conditions such as community services and resources. The students broke the neighborhood into five areas to make collecting data on the physical conditions faster, but the boundaries are not any sort of legal boundary or designation. The five areas are shown here:
